The Cloud Solutions Architect will be providing cloud solutions to meet business requirements for various types of KBR Projects. You will partner with application teams, various infrastructure teams, as well as technical and security services teams to describe and ensure alignment to KBRâs agreed strategy, policies, principles, and patterns. Job duties include establishing and overseeing the governance of a multi-cloud environment and periodic audit. Cloud Solutions Architect will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to and make a real difference in Cloud Solutions maturity and adaptation for KBR.

The Role and the work youâll be doing.

To perform the role effectively, you need to have strong technical skills and the ability to build successful cross-functional team relationships. This is a hybrid role offering flexible hours and the ability to work remotely, but where needed you will be required to work in the office for collaborative purposes.  A key feature of this role is to engage with the broader KBR team. We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships and driving value. Due to the global exposure the role involves, you should expect to work occasional early mornings or evenings as well.

Youâll be joining the Strategy and Architecture team who are distributed across the US and the UK.  We have team members based in Houston Texas and in the London area. Whilst geographically dispersed, we work as one team with a supportive and knowledge-sharing culture.

What type of work will you be doing?

  • Designing a highly scalable, automated, and available cloud platform, utilizing IaaS and PaaS, for large scale, mission critical applications, aligned with the KBR cloud-smart strategy and architecture.
  • Establishing Architecture standards and maintaining in the repository.
  • Creating and implementing DevOps, support, maintenance and governance practices and processes for the Cloud Platform.
  • Solution and implementing all aspects of Cloud service models and application delivery such as PaaS, Serverless and Containerization infrastructure.
  • Establishing On-prem and Cloud Network interface with Load balancers, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory Services.
  • Partnering with Development teams, CyberSecurity, Infrastructure teams to deliver and maintain a cloud platform.
  • Creating the capabilities required to utilize automation practices for initializing, provisioning, and optimizing systems, and facilitate infrastructure orchestration â embracing self-service and autonomy.
  • Ensuring systems and application have efficient and actionable monitoring with SLO aligned with business goals.
  • Developing, planning, and creating Proof of Concept environments both on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Leading and participating in architectural and governance reviews and/or audits.
  • Consulting and supporting other divisions within solutions delivery in application, integration and development.
  • Implementing projects in close collaboration with other stakeholders (strategic business solutions, solution delivery, service delivery, business departments)
  • Reviewing and recommending technologies to meet business needs and priorities and to align with enterprise strategies.
  • Creating necessary project documentation and transfer operation manuals.
  • Creating and maintaining the backup strategy.
  • Troubleshooting problems in the operational infrastructure and applications, including follow-up problem resolution, root cause analysis and process improvement.
  • Providing 3rd level support within the organizational unit.
  • Establishing key vendor relationships.

What skills do you need:

  • A degree in Computer Information systems or management.
  • A relevant number of years of Information Technology infrastructure experience.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (preferred).
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure products and capabilities.
  • Expert-level knowledge of containerization technology such as Docker, Kubernetes clusters, Red Hat OpenShift and general repositories and artifact systems both on-prem and cloud.
  • Expert-level knowledge of VMware vSphere and later architecture and capabilities.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Red Hat Linux 8+, Oracle Linux, Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to script in at least two common languages (e.g., PHP, Python, PowerShell desirable).
  • Server hardware knowledge (Cisco UCS and Dell servers)
  • Storage arrays (PureStorage, Netapp).
  • Backup systems (Rubrik).
  • UPS mainly for remote sites.
  • Vmware Vcenter, Vmware vSphere 6, 7 and 8.
  • Vmware VDI (Virtual Desktop infrastructure) v8+, on-premise and cloud versions.
  • YAML, JSON, Azure ARM templates, Ansible and others.
  • Visio or other source of creating drawing.
