We're looking for a Capital Management Analyst to join our team with excellent analysis capabilities as well as being a team player with good, clear, two-way communication. The role can be performed mainly from home, but there will be occasions you'll need to attend our Halifax office.

What will I be doing?
  • Calculating how much money we need to hold in the worst-case scenario in line with regulatory (Solvency II) requirements. This will include calculating our quarterly Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) along with updating relevant analyses and reporting templates.
  • Producing quarterly and annual reports within set timeframes, for the business, management committees and the regulator.
  • Assessing data quality, in terms of it being complete, accurate and appropriate and recommending improvements if needed.
  • Monitoring the actual experience against that predicted by our models.
  • Explaining the results of analysis in a non-technical way and getting the key messages across in a simple and insightful way.
  • Extracting data, manipulating and analysing it to produce useful information for the business.
  • Ensuring your analytical/actuarial/statistical work is carried out to high standards of professionalism.
  • Implementing improved modelling techniques, including researching and recommending suitable actuarial / statistical methods.
  • Analysing and recommending important findings to a range of audiences, from peers to managers.
  • Provide challenge to current methods applied and offer alternative approaches that could be taken.


You should apply if have...
  • Mathematical expertise with A/A* in A-level Mathematics and/or a 2:1 or higher mathematical related degree (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Solvency II regulations and capital calculations using the Standard Formula within Non-life insurance would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Actuarial concepts and techniques would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office product suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). Knowledge of VBA/SQL would be advantageous
  • High standard of written and verbal communication and the ability to disseminate complex details and concepts to all levels.
  • Ability to think analytically and logically.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to identify issues and escalate as appropriate and offer possible solutions.
  • Ability to build relationships with peers across the business quickly and effectively.
  • You do not need to be studying for a professional qualification; however support may be provided if you are.
