An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Science Technician to join our Science Faculty. The successful candidate will support teaching and learning in the faculty by preparing resources for KS3 to KS5 lessons and conducting practical demonstrations.

Ideally, you will have a good working knowledge of COSHH & CLEAPSS in order to maintain compliance with Health and Safety Regulations at the school. However, full training will be provided.

Prendergast School is an Outstanding 11-16 Girls School with a mixed 6th Form and benefits from being part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools. Awarded its third Outstanding OFSTED grading in a row in November 2013, the school has been leading girls’ education in Lewisham for over 130 years.

Curriculum

Science has a role of great importance within the curriculum. The faculty is exceptionally well equipped with seven dedicated laboratories and a prep room. All labs are well provided with resources to ensure the delivery of a dynamic and exhilarating curriculum for our students, where practical investigation is placed at the heart of teaching and learning in order to engage and inspire our students as young scientists. We teach general science to KS3, then separate physics, chemistry, and biology from years 10 to 13. The importance of practical work in our curriculum means our technicians serve a key role. We use Lablogger to manage practical work within the department.

The buildings are equipped with modern facilities with interactive smartboards and access to Chromebooks.

Hours:                      35 hours a week, 39 weeks a year (term time only plus 5 Inset Days)
