Liberton High School is a non-denominational secondary school with roll of approximately 900 pupils, working in partnership with our associated primaries of Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Liberton and Prestonfield to serve our local community in South East Edinburgh.

We have a rising roll which is projected to peak at approximately 1100 within the next four years. We are excited to be moving into a new, purpose built Community Campus, which is due to be competed in February 2026.

The school's leadership team comprise the Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers, and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 65 teaching staff and 26 support staff.

We are a successful school, which is evident in our attainment journey over the past 5 years. Liberton serves a socially diverse community where the profile of our catchment places over 70% of our students in quintile 1 and 2 of the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation and many of our families join us from a variety of different countries and cultures. This all adds to our pride in being part of a school that represents our community - a community where everyone is valued and respected.

We are looking to recruit a Pupil Support Leader to join the existing team and further develop our support services. We operate a vertical House Structure' and the successful candidate will work with a Depute Headteacher, Support for Learning Teacher and Pupil Support Officer to lead support for Pupils of 'Dee' House in all aspects of learning and wellbeing.

Our core school belief is that Everyone Matters', which is lived by pupils, staff and families. It is underpinned by our values of Ready, Respectful and Responsible. We believe in positive relationships for learning, and that every person has the right to achieve their potential.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
