The Company

The Client, a specialist Transport Planning Consultancy, is looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join the team based in Leeds. The Client has an enviable track record of achieving successful results across Strategic Develo0pment, Residential, Employment, Retail, Leisure, Education, Health, Public Inquires and regeneration sectors.

The successful candidate has the amazing opportunity to work apart a successful company and work on extensive range of projects from small-scale housing developments to strategic mixed-use urban extensions, business park expansions, new schools and roadside services

The position of a Principal Transport Planner:

As a Principal Transport Planner, key responsibilities include site appraisals, transport assessments, client relationship management, pursuing business development, supporting negotiations, and attending Highway Authority meetings. You should be capable of managing projects as well as mentoring the junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities as a Principal Transport Planner:

  • Conduct site access appraisals and transport assessments
  • Develop concept designs for highway schemes and junction improvements
  • Mentor junior team members and foster their professional development
  • Cultivate client relationships and contribute to business development efforts
  • Prepare fee proposals and assist in securing new opportunities
  • Monitor project resourcing and financial performance

Essential Requirements for the Principal Transport Planner:

  • Proven experience in a Transport Planning consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of transport planning policy, principles, and standards.
  • Relevant postgraduate experience and ideally pursuing Chartered status
  • Familiarity with local and national transport policy and guidance
  • Experience building, running, and understanding the outputs of Junctions 10 and LinSig software
