Tech Support Engineer

You will provide technical expertise to support Industry control systems with in-depth trouble-shooting, creation of technical reports, expert advice and technical aspects of upgrades. Part of the role will require testing and configuration of hardware and software in the office. You will support all Global Service projects as required, both in the office and on site if and when necessary.Job Description
Responsibilities:
- You will provide analysis of technical data from reported customer problems and creation of technical reports to discuss the findings, conclusions and recommendations.
- Primarily, providing telephone and email support to customers, including analysis of data and proposals for solutions to problems.
- You will update systems with modifications where necessary or requested, including drawings, specifications/Change Identifications, control and HMI software, testing, etc.
- Occasional site visits may be required, to commission upgrades, investigate problems, implement modifications, and carry out surveys. Â
- You will be required to liaise with other GE Power Conversion units, customers, suppliers and sub-contractors, and produce technical/design specifications and documents to help customers with problems.
- You will provide technical proposals for upgrades of legacy systems.
- Some overseas travel may be required.
Requirements:
- You must be degree qualified or equivalent in electrical and/or electronic engineering.
- Programming experience (including standard PLC software languages and GEPCâs standard programming tools).
- You will have a good understanding of control loops (open loop/closed loop, PID loops).
- You will have an excellent working knowledge of GEPCâs hardware and software solutions in the Industry business.
- You will be able to work independently when creating software modifications and technical documentation.
