The School and Role
I'm recruiting on behalf of an excellent Special Needs School based in Lewisham. We re looking for a SEN Secondary Teacher to provide supportive education to dedicated to assisting students back into mainstream learning. You will be teaching across all subjects up to GCSE level.
Many of their learners have not had success in their education elsewhere. They support their Learners to build trust and desire to learn by offering wrap-around pastoral care. Staff at this school are confident and skilled in building positive relationships that help to break down barriers, build self-esteem and challenge disaffection.
They respect that all their Learners are individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and life experiences. They passionately believe that by assisting their Learners to overcome their personal barriers they will be best placed to access meaningful education, develop their aspirations and become contributing members of society.
The desired SEN Teacher will:
- Have a passion to teach outside of a mainstream environment, and a commitment to experience the unique opportunities of a special school
- Have a kind, caring, and compassionate nature which is used to plan and deliver inclusive, fun, and inspiring lessons
- Have a recognised UK teaching qualification
- Have previously taken opportunities during ITT or otherwise to enhance your knowledge and understanding of children with SEND
