Job Description

Stobart are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Human Resources to lead our talented team and drive our human resources initiatives. With a proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategies, fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with employment laws, the Head of Human Resources will play a pivotal role in shaping the overall HR strategy whilst providing strategic insight and analysis on people themes across the business units for the HR Director. 

Key Duties

Build, implement and sustain a data-informed Employee Relations strategy whilst ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.Work on projects and initiatives to mitigate risk, support or participate in special projects/programs requiring ER stakeholder input.Represent the organisation in contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and Union Representatives.Shaping and leading a team of HR Business Partners, developing their skills and capabilities to develop close working relationships with management teams and provide proactive, commercially-focused HR solutions, input and advice.Lead the development and implementation of an ER framework for all key ER activities, including, but not limited to grievance and disciplinary investigations, absence and performance management etc.Mentor and guide HR Business Partners through the sharing of knowledge and role modelling to help them develop their remit and become trusted business partners for the business area they support.Take the strategic lead on shaping the HR Business Partner service.Work closely with the HR Director on strategic and confidential projects as required.Work closely with senior managers to identify and meet their wider people and strategic needs.Utilise and champion HR metrics to aid understanding and strategy across the operations and provide insight and analysis on people themes for the HRD and Management Teams.Support the embedding and development of a positive and progressive culture at all levels across the business partnering function.Set HR practice and procedure for team and business in line with statutory requirements.Autonomous decision making in line with process and risk level.Manage relationships with external bodies such as Occupational Health, ACAS, Trade Unions, Employment Law Advisors.Identify opportunities for people related cost savings and efficiencies.Take the lead on large scale restructure and TUPE projects.

Qualifications

CIPD qualified – Level 7 or equivalentExperience of working with Trade UnionsExperience of managing large scale, complex TUPE transfersProven track record of leading a team of regional HR Business Partners preferably within a large, multi-site organisationExperience of working within matrix management structures across functional boundaries and delivering through othersStrong leadership and people management skills along with extensive experience of managing a team during a time of transitionExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships and influence at all levelsAdept at designing and implementing commercially focused HR strategies and solutionsStrong strategic, analytical and commercial focusExperience of leading and delivering culture changeAbility to work in a fast paced and demanding environmentExperience in building, maintaining and developing relationships with both internal and external stakeholdersCoaching/mentoring qualification or evidence of continuing developmentLogistics industry experience Ability to travel to various sites
