Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist with a sub-speciality interest in Breast, GI, and oncology radiology, but we are very happy to discuss accommodating any other specialist interests. The post holder will be based in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital, Bodelwyddan, , but will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team supporting existing services for the North Wales region.

The successful candidate will contribute to the wider workload of the department subject to job plan discussions, including general radiology, on call rotas and teaching of radiology trainees, undergraduate students, and other hospital staff.

We have strong links with the University of Wales, Bangor and candidates would have an opportunity to develop research links and / or teaching links with the University.

Main duties of the job

10 session job plan. On call currently 1in 10 or less frequent, with prospective cover. Each radiologist will have responsibilities for teaching, quality assurance, and service management within their specialist areas. The post is advertised with a Breast/GI/Oncology interest .Breast Sub-speciality interest Support breast MDT, multimodality breast reporting as well as RABC. Candidates should have the ability to perform interventional procedures such as Magseed localisation, Stereotactic/Vacuum Biospies, Ultrasound guided Core biopsies and cyst drainages. The post holder would be expected to contribute and support these services and attend the MDTs. No screening opportunities as screening breast work done by Breast Test Wales. GI Sub-speciality interest: This is a busy DGH gastroenterology unit with on-site endoscopy, ERCP and stenting, PTC. EUS is provided in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Weekly MDT links into the supra-regional MDT and upper GI surgery is provided at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post holder would be expected to contribute and support these services and attend the MDTs. Oncology Sub-speciality interest: This unit supports a wide-spectrum of oncology including lung, breast, GI, gynaecology, urology, haematology and CUP MDTs. The radiotherapy centre is centralised in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd but there is a chemotherapy centre on all three sites. Oncology cross-sectional imaging would be an important part of the post holder's job plan.
