Working with a large regional House Builder who deliver high quality housing and new build social housing throughout the Yorkshire and North Midlands region.

About the role of Assistant Estimator

As Pre-Development Assistant Estimator you will work within the Pre-Development Team and report Directly to the Pre-Construction Director. You will work alongside the estimator and undertake estimating duties on projects which are being brought forward as proposed developments. These will vary in nature, size and complexity however the fundamental principle of the role remains in that you will be required to provide and/or assist a build cost estimate for the development which will then be used by the wider Predevelopment Team to formulate an acquisition and development strategy.

Responsibilities for Assistant Estimator

  • Preparing full detailed take offs and pricing at pre-development appraisal stage
  • Reviewing design and tender documentation, contract conditions, other job-specific factors, and production of risk analyses, in order to inform the 'decision to tender'.
  • Take part in cost adjudication project team meetings and contributing towards tender strategy decisions.
  • Seeking competitive quotations for packages of work and/or materials in order to prepare competitive tenders.

Requirements for Assistant Estimator

  • Construction Degree or equivalent
  • Understanding and awareness of house building methods and technologies
  • Be able to interpret and cost technical drawings relating to house types, engineering and wider site works
  • Have industry contacts to be able to ensure the most appropriate solutions are applied to sites
  • Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Excel to be able to develop and refine estimating tools
  • Working knowledge of site wide works packages relating to residential development
  • Bluebeam Software & Autocad experience
