We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Chef Manager (40 weeks per annum, term-time + 1 week) to join our excellent catering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the busy day to day food service activities within the school, with responsibilities including food preparation, cooking, stock control and serving our school community.

The ability to organise and supervise all aspects of food service effectively in accordance with food hygiene, allergen and health and safety legislation is essential to the role. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a large, busy kitchen, be flexible, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to form positive relationships. There will also be opportunity to get involved in the wider life of the school including enrichment clubs and whole school events.

Professional Development and Wellbeing

The school is committed to growth mindset and the professional development of all colleagues. Continuing Professional Learning (CPL) calendar for both teaching and support staff at every level. Training provided by internal and external professionals, as well as guest speakers.     At East Barnet School positive mental health and wellbeing is paramount. Location 

Serviced by great train, underground and bus transport links (Northern line, Piccadilly line and New Barnet (overground) station are all within walking distance).     Being based in the outskirts of London means we benefit from a more rural location and cheaper housing prices whilst being only a short train journey into the centre of London.     For those who drive, we have a free, large, gated car park, and bike racks for those who choose to cycle.     There are plenty of local shops and supermarkets in the surrounding area around the school, and a great view across London from our floor to ceiling panoramic Library window.


Working atmosphere 

March 2022 Ofsted inspection recognised that: 'Pupils behave very well in lessons and they are keen to learn. They listen to teachers, contribute their ideas and work hard. Outside of lessons, pupils' behaviour is calm and orderly.'  The school offers a very supportive, friendly and warm atmosphere. 


Facilities 

The state-of-the-art school building which was opened in September 2010 incorporates extensive grounds, modern outside sports facilities, excellent IT provision and contemporary dining areas, with our Sixth Form Cafe, now proudly serving Costa Coffee (which is also available to staff).
