Enniskillen, United Kingdom The National Trust Full time
General Manager - Enniskillen

Summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

An internal secondment at Assistant Director level has meant that we have 2 fixed term contract vacancies for General Managers at key portfolios within Northern Ireland.

They are being recruited together, with candidates able to apply for one or both of the vacancies. The contracts, one based at Florence Court, Fermanagh (IRC152656) the other at The Argory, Armagh, (IRC152658) run from Aug 24 – Feb 25.

These are the key leadership roles within the properties, which you’ll operate with a significant degree of autonomy. You’ll lead from the front, inspiring and motivating your team, turning our emerging strategy into reality and delivering across a broad range of operational areas. You’ll support an inclusive and positive culture, where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Interview dates (virtual or in person) are scheduled for 13 and 17 Jun 24.

What it's like to work here

The portfolio has a passionate and committed team and fantastic properties. They have an ambitious plan (available via Acorn) and a strong sense of purpose.

What you'll be doing

As well as having an eye on the day-to-day, you'll have to plan for the future in line with our emergent national and regional strategy.

Part of a successful wider GM team across Northern Ireland, you’ll work with our internal Consultancy and external partners to achieve our goals and champion the NT cause message. You’ll manage a Property Leadership Team, each with their own specialty. You’ll need to bring a positive, can-do attitude to the team - your motivational style will inspire them to deliver outstanding results across all areas of the portfolio, generating funds to invest back into further conservation and development.

Who we're looking for

You must be able to drive and direct change across a diverse remit. We have some ambitious visitor and revenue targets so you'll need to be confident with finances, people and projects. You’ll need to know when to delegate, and when to take ownership. Everything you do will be in harmony with our values and ambitions, but it will also make perfect commercial and financial sense.

With a wide range of skills in your toolkit, you'll need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your application form;

  • Leadership. You'll lead and inspire, both your own Property Leadership Team and others. You'll ensure expectations, accountabilities and responsibilities are clear and actively manage performance.
  • Delivery of Results. You'll achieve financial and non-financial targets and ensure optimum use of resources in line with approved plans. You'll look to develop new opportunities to generate income including external funding opportunities,
  • Engagement and Partnerships. You’ll need to be a confident communicator, accomplished decision-maker and natural collaborator, adept at building effective working relationships with a wide variety of people including commercial partners, tenants, community groups and National Trust consultancy colleagues.
  • Managing Risk. You'll be comfortable managing operational risk, understand the underpinning need for compliance and know what it means to hold others to account.
  • Project Delivery. You'll oversee the successful delivery of a wide range of projects including conservation and infrastructure improvements.

Please refer to the role profile attached to find out more about the role. Please articulate and identify clearly on your application form how you meet the above-mentioned criteria.

We know that we can’t serve our diverse audiences without firstly celebrating the diversity of our people. That’s why we are working hard to create an inclusive culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging.,

    The package
