Job Description

Please note, this role can be based out of our Holborn, Coventry or Manchester Store Support Centre & Home.

As we embark on our Next Level Sainsbury's strategy it is critical that the transformation that underpins it is delivered effectively. In this role you will perform regular assessments on how the business is structured, governed and set up to adequately deliver the desired business outcomes.

Deliver to time and quality a portfolio of transformation assurance reviews across Sainsbury's as per the agreed assurance plan. You will develop relationships with business stakeholders involved in delivering business change, supporting them in identifying and managing risks and assurance requirements. You'll provide management with an independent assessment and assurance related to the adequacy, effectiveness, and sustainability of programme controls. You'll also support the continuous improvement activities and share external best practise and innovative thinking into our assurance processes and methodologies.

More about the role
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of multiple reviews within the assurance plan to deliver time, budget and quality targets across in scope programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key members of programme leadership and management across the business. This will involve supporting stakeholder owners across the business in understanding programme risk, controls and assurance expectations.
  • Provide real-time support, challenge and actionable insight to management when new processes are being implemented / change projects are being delivered.
  • Act with a good level of judgement during audit and advisory work and develop recommendations that balance both commercial considerations and the assurance requirements of the business.
  • Driving a continual risk focus in the business through ensuring a flexible the assurance framework is applied throughout the programme lifecycle to adapt to programme evolution, change requests and critical issues.
  • Support the Head of Transformation Assurance in developing an ongoing risk-based assurance plan.
  • Contribute to team success through contributing and implementing continuous improvement activities in the team.
More about you
  • Demonstrable broad experience of working with complex transformation programmes in fast-paced large businesses (ideally Retail) covering technology, people and process outcomes.
  • Experience of working in / leading complex portfolios of programme assurance / audit
  • Proven track record in developing strong stakeholder relationships at different seniority levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which includes an ability to explain the impact of programme risks (people, process and technology) to stakeholders outside of core programmes.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Curiosity to learn new skills / knowledge and a commitment to personal development.
  • Good understanding of programme controls, methodologies (Agile, hybrid) and good practice in delivering business change outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • An understanding of the Internal Audit industry, with prior internal or external audit experience with a track record of leading audits and adapting to change.
  • Strong time management and project management skills to ensure work is delivered on time, to budget and to the expected quality.
