WHAT TO EXPECT


This role sits within Engineering Operations (EO), specifically the newly formed Power Lab , a centre of excellence dedicated to charging and power electronics testing. 

 

Collaborating closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and system architects, to develop new ways of testing and supporting the technological development of JLR vehicles. You will advise internal customers of good working practices and solutions to their technical validation challenges and enable optimal utilisation of internal test facilities and equipment.

 

The role is laboratory based and requires hands-on skills. You will ensure high levels of facility tidiness and cleanliness at all times in line with company process (5S) and develop facility maintenance standards to ensure consumables, instrumentation and calibration activities are completed as appropriate. 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 


    Working with customer teams to meet the technical/facility requirements needed for their operation which could include design/manufacture of test rigs, developing new ways to use existing facilities for new technologies, developing new test solutions for future test programs.
    Manage the workflow of technician team and deliver clear & accurate work instructions through adaptation or creation of schematics / diagrams as required to translate high level design requirements. 
    Support operations teams with in-rig support and hands on debug and commissioning.
    Support facility maintenance, driving preventative maintenance activities within the team.
    Pro-actively assist in creation and refinement of processes and procedures in the facility.
    Engage with the implement of all Health & Safety, ISO45001, ISO14001, TS16949, COSHH & "Lean" procedures and standards as required by the business.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED 


    Preferably Educated to HNC/Degree level in automotive electrical engineering/allied discipline is desired or proven time served delivery in a similar role will also be considered.
    Good understanding of vehicle electrical and/or electronic system testing techniques.
    Experience working with Hybrid and/or HV Battery Electric Vehicle Propulsion or Power Electronics Systems.
    Experience working with technical wiring schematics and an understanding of wiring standards.
    Knowledge of automotive networks, CAN, Flexray, LIN & Automotive Ethernet.
Understanding of virtual environment (Hardware in the Loop) & simulation concepts 
 Ability to accurately and concisely present complex technical ideas or projects to a diverse audience using a variety of communication media.
