We are seeking to appoint a Programme Manager to work as part of the Rural Wales Local Policy and Innovation Partnership (Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales brings together researchers, policymakers and communities to tackle the major challenges facing the region. It aims to promote inclusive, sustainable, development towards a ‘wellbeing economy’ by filling evidence gaps, exploring innovative solutions and enhancing the use of research to support effective policies. The three-year work programme will engage a range of people in innovation labs to develop and test novel interventions, community-led research projects focused on local concerns, dialogues to discuss ‘wicked issues’, new data collection through surveys and short studies, and the creation of an Online Integrated Evidence Hub. The post-holder will provide administrative support for Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales as a member of the Executive Group, including overseeing project monitoring and reporting, ethics compliance, allocation of resources, and liaison with partners and stakeholders. The post-holder will work with other members of the admin team to support public engagement and events, comms, financial management, and preparation for meetings. The post will be based in Aberystwyth but may involve travel and work with colleagues in other organisations in Wales.

What you’ll do:

The post-holder will provide administrative support for Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales, the Rural Wales Local Policy and Innovation Partnership. Funded by the ESRC, Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales is a partnership that brings together researchers from a range of disciplines at Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, Cardiff University and the University of Gloucestershire, and experts in partners including Together for Change, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Antur Cymru, Datblygiadau Egni Gwledig, Represent Us Rural, Rural Health and Care Wales, and Sgema.

The specific responsibilities of the post are:

To support the Director and Co-Directors in the management of Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales, participating in meetings of the Executive Group.

To liaise with Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales partner organisations, including on contractual arrangements.

To monitor and support the allocation of staff resources, including maintaining a record of CoI and staff contributions across Work Streams.

To establish and maintain a system for monitoring progress across the Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales Work Streams and report any concerns to the Executive Group.

To collate reports from team members and coordinate annual reporting in the UKRI ResearchFish platform.

To manage competitive peer reviewed processes for the award of Commissioning Funds in WS2 and WS5.

To assist preparation for ethics review processes and to ensure that all Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales work has received appropriate ethics approval.

To assist with planning and preparation for applications for additional or follow-on grant funding.

To liaise with academic and professional service departments at Aberystwyth University with respect to office accommodation, equipment and IT services for Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales staff.

To assist with the organisation of meetings and preparation of meeting papers, including meetings of the Executive Group, Work Stream and Thematic Group Lead and all-team meetings.

To provide support for the Advisory Board, including arranging and preparing papers for meetings.

To provide support for the work of the Thematic Groups.

To provide support as appropriate to the delivery of the Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales work programme, including procurement of external support and services.

To support the Engagement Officer with the organisation of events and public engagement activities and with Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales communications, including website content and social media.

To work with other members of the admin team to maintain mailing and contact lists to support commissioning of research, public engagement, policy impact and outreach.

To deal with correspondence and enquiries concerning Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales and act as a point of contact for support departments and stakeholders.

To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
