We are offering an exciting opportunity for x 2 Locum Trust Fellows in Acute Paediatrics. You will join an enthusiastic and cohesive team in the, based at the New Cross Hospital providing acute care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working with a team of Consultants, Specialist Trainees, Clinical Fellows, Core Trainees and Foundation Year Trainees.

Job description
Job responsibilities

To work appropriately and effectively within your clinical team within the limits of your competency under clinical and educational supervision.

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, and commensurate with your grade, to play a full part in the supervision and support of other members of your team including more junior medical staff .

In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.

In conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met and to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.

To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any risks, incidents and hazards are reported and managed appropriately. In conjunction with colleagues, to play a full part in the rota for the department and to provide cover for colleagues in respect of periods of leave and, under agreed circumstances, to be available to provide emergency cover.

To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

Education and Qualifications
Essential

Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC. Member of The Royal College of Paediatricians

Desirable

Higher Medical Degree APLS

Education and Teaching
Essential

Evidence of a commitment to education and teaching.

Management Skills
Essential

Demonstrate effective team working skills. Time management/organisational ability. An example may be they have developed and run training programmes. Proven knowledge of systems and process of NHS or equivalent.

Other
Essential

Demonstrate innovation and problem solving abilities. Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.

Experience
Essential

2 years of post qualification experience Management of acute and chronic general medical diseases under supervision

Desirable

Presented evidence of experience to date supported by references Up to date ALS or ATLS certificate Attainment of the UK foundation programme or an equivalent level of experience Senior Fellows will have 6 months experience in the chosen speciality minimum equivalent to ST 1/2
