Precision Components Ltd is a leading manufacturing of compressor rotor screws based in Rochdale. We specialise in the manufacture of high-quality precision engineered helical components for various industries. We are committed to utilising advanced technology and maintaining the highest standards in our manufacturing processes.As part of our growth and expansion, we are currently seeking a time-served CNC Machine Programmer Setter Miller to join our dynamic team. Critical to this role is the use of FANUC controls.Job Purpose:As part of a multi-skilled and friendly engineering team, you will program, set up, and operate CNC VMC & HMC machines to produce precision components to a high specification and rigorous quality standard.Responsibilities:
  • Programme, set up, and operate VMC & HMC machines, specifically Doosan machines with Fanuc CNC controls, to mill parts with 0.010mm tolerances.
  • Interpret technical drawings and job orders to determine machine setup requirements.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and fixtures for each job.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure parts meet specification using conventional measurement techniques (micrometers/gauges/verniers), diagnose errors and correct any deviation.
  • Monitor machine operations, making necessary adjustments and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimise production processes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Train other operators when required and mentor apprentices.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a time-served CNC operator Miller with machine set-up and programming experience in FANUC controls.
  • Experience in producing complex components to very tight tolerances.
  • High proficiency in operating a range of milling, VMC, and HMC machines.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with minimum supervision.
  • Willingness to learn other machine operations with training.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating shift pattern.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Knowledge of metal cutting techniques and Lean principles.
  • Qualified Advanced Modern Apprenticeship or recognised time-served certification.
  • Other relevant training an advantage: FLT, health & safety, manual handling, Lean, 5 S, etc.
