      Job overview

      We are a newly formed team and this role is responsible for the delivery of employee relations processes, providing guidance to managers and employees, working to deliver and ensure appropriate responses to any related employment issues that arise. The postholder must adopt a Just Culture approach to employee relations matters.

      This will include advising on procedural matters and best practice and local and national terms and conditions, as well as dealing with associated administration and record keeping and attendance at meetings to support and coach managers through ER processes.

      Main duties of the job

    • Proactively manage a suitable Employee Relations caseload in a timely and proactive way. This must be done in line with the principles of Just Culture, current HR best practice, Trust policies and procedures and any national/statutory guidelines.
    • Provide advice, guidance and counsel to managers, supervisors and HR colleagues on employee relations issues, policy interpretation and questions. To include such issues as conduct, capability (performance and sickness), employee complaints and compliance issues.
    • Responding to employee issues and questions, providing feedback to managers to ensure appropriate action is taken where necessary.
    • Provide HR representation for managers and employees in formal processes (disciplinary, performance, sickness absence etc), ensuring decisions are consistent with best practice, legislation, Trust culture and policy.
    • Report back any potential learning to the Commissioning Manager and ER Lead for dissemination following the conclusion of the investigation.
    • Support the ER Specialist / Lead in the updating of assigned HR policies to ensure compliance with best practice and any national guidelines as well as statutory changes, where appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
Evidence of CPD Part/Fully CIPD qualified
Skills / Abilities

Essential criteria
Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work Good attention to detail and accuracy
Experience / Knowedge

Essential criteria
Previous experience of working in a HR team in a unionised environment Previous experience of supporting an employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance and dignity at work
