Falkland Islands, United Kingdom BFBS Full time

Fancy an adventure… its a mixture of international travel, wildlife photography and Broadcast System Support.

We’ll pay you for the broadcast system support, while the adventure, wildlife photography and international travel is what everyone does when they go to the Falkland Islands You don’t have to be Lara Croft or Indiana Jones, but you do need a sense of adventure and of course, some technical skills.

You will be part of BFBS Technology, joining our small team in the Falklands to provide broadcast support to our systems. If you bring a broad range of skills with the ability to support the full broadcast chain from the microphone to the transmitter, then it could be you

You’ll be living and working alongside the military, so you’ll need a positive and flexible approach to life and to work. The living and working environment can be challenging but always rewarding. This is a tax free role, with accommodation included and is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2026.

Few people can visit the Falkland Islands and doing so as part of the BFBS team, embedded with the military community, offers an experience you won’t find anywhere else. In support of our assets across the Falkland Islands, your commute to work will range from a twenty-minute walk to several hours in a helicopter. If you know your FM from your DVB-T and your DTH from your VOD and this sounds like it’s for you then read on.

Based at the Mount Pleasant Complex, you’ll be expected to work together with the BFBS team and our military customer to ensure that BFBS’s Radio, TV and Cinema services always remain available. We also provide contracted support for the Met Office, Falkland Islands Government radio and TV transmission in Stanley, Falklands Radio and the MiPlayer streaming, and VOD system hosted by the local Telecom’s company so there’s plenty of variety.

The ideal candidate would have some knowledge or interest in broadcast systems and be prepared to learn about the others.
