PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel that is seeking a Teacher of English.  Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ and the successful candidate will help deliver this for our schools. We currently have three schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019, and Bannockburn Primary School, a large successful primary that joined the Trust on 1st November 2023. We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational. We wish to employ a colleague with excellent subject knowledge who is passionate about sharing their love of English within our diverse school community. You will be ready to develop your expertise by taking on additional responsibility for either KS3 or Post 16.  

A TLR allowance, alongside Inner London Weighting, will be available to a suitably experienced applicant to take on additional responsibilities within the department as a key stage leader.

English is a very popular and high achieving subject in our school at all key stages and we have team of 17 teachers. At GCSE, we teach the AQA GCSE specification in both English language and English literature. We work closely with our colleagues at our Girls' school and are currently exploring a range of exciting developments in our curriculum at KS3 as we ensure that it prepares our boys for academic success while also preparing them for life in one of the most exciting cities in the world.  

Our co-educational sixth form is rated Outstanding and is large and expanding. It will be housed in newly built and refurbished premises from September 2024. The English team is at the heart of this success, offering 3 subjects at A level: AQA English Language, Educas Film Studies and Edexcel English Literature. We are highly aspirant for our A level students and many progress to the top Russell Group Universities (including Oxbridge) to study English literature and related subjects such as Law.  

We are looking for a Teacher who has:

be a qualified and experienced English teacher  have a sound understanding of curriculum design and implementation at KS3 or Post 16 be organised and able to manage resources efficiently be able to communicate your ideas to large team in an engaging and supportive waybe able to liaise with the leadership team about the progress of identified students within your designated area of responsibility be able to lead the professional development of staff at KS3 or Post 16be able to track progress of KS3 or Post 16 students and identify underachievement and ensure intervention plans are put in place
