About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work within an SEN school. As a SEND TA, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with special educational needs and disabilities. If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children, we would love to hear from you

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Learning:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of students under the guidance of the headteacher, SENCO, and class teachers.

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce learning and ensure comprehension.

  • Adapt teaching materials to meet individual student needs.

Individualized Support:

  • Offer personalized assistance to students with diverse needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and emotional or behavioral challenges.

  • Help implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs).

Classroom Management:

  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Support students in managing their behavior and emotions.

  • Communication:

    • Liaise with parents, caregivers, and professionals involved in the students' education and well-being.

    • Maintain clear and open communication with teaching staff regarding student progress and any arising issues.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Assist in preparing teaching materials and classroom resources.

  • Keep accurate records of student progress and activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Relevant qualification in special education or teaching assistance desirable.

  • Additional certifications or training in special educational needs are advantageous.

  • Training can be provided.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children, especially those with special educational needs.

  • Understanding of different special educational needs and strategies to support them.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Caring and compassionate nature.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varied needs of students.
