We are working on a rare role for a commercial contracts lawyer to work with a major utilities client.  The legal team spans across property, commercial contracts, construction, litigation and regulatory work.  The commercial contracts sub-team has a vacancy for an Associate to join, to handle a breadth of commercial work.  If you an Associate and have between 1-5 years' PQE in commercial contracts work, we are keen to hear from you – additional experience in public procurement would be an additional bonus for this role. 

The breadth of commercial work this team manages is wide – handling contracts including operation and maintenance, goods, services, outsourcing, consultancy and a range of IT contracts.   An understanding of commercial contracts and experience working in a commercial role is essential.  In addition, knowledge of UK procurement regime and demonstrable experience of public procurement would be particularly advantageous for the role.

Although the legal team is sizeable, the commercial contracts team of 5 lawyers is a close working and cohesive team.  You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues, although this should be balanced with a confidence to work alone at times – taking ownership of tasks and operating sound judgment.  As part of an in-house team, the key is providing clear and concise legal advice within a commercial setting.  Excellent interpersonal skills, organisation and a ‘can do’ attitude is key.  With a hybrid working model, you can enjoy the flexibility to balance office and home working as needed.
