Basic Salary £27,236 to £30,504 per annum

Ability to earn up to 15% per annum in a cyclical bonus, max bonus payable £8,170 to £9,151 per cycle

Overtime available at an enhanced rate

Are you a highly motivated individual looking to start or expand your aquaculture career? We are currently looking to employ a Deckhand to work onboard our vessel, the Maksiccar. The role is based at the Company’s seawater sites at Cheesebay on the Isle of North Uist. The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding and can lead to a variety of fulfilling career progression opportunities.

If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a two week on/two week off rotational basis, providing an excellent work/life balance opportunity.  There is no accommodation available therefore the successful candidate will be required to travel to site each day whilst on shift to join the vessel. 

About the job

The role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best management of our salmon is undertaken. We need our Deckhands to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but it not limited to:

Perform any combination of duties aboard the vessel including lookout, steering and engine-room watches.Treatment, harvest, grading and mooring assistanceLoading, unloading and handling of deck cargoReporting and liaising with farm managementStock control, logging and management of ships’ suppliesAdherence with all local laws and company policyGeneral maintenanceInspection and maintenance of equipment and facilities around the farmMonitoring and maintaining fish health, welfare and bio-securityBoat handling around the farmGeneral farm tasks to keep the whole operation running

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.

STCW & RYA certification is requiredML5 or ENG1 Medical certificate is requiredExperience is desirable, but not essential as training will be providedFlexible approach to working to meet the demands of the jobA positive attitude and willingness to learnAbility to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve theseRespect for the need for safe working practicesDrivers licence is essential.
