WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Working within the SVO Vehicle Personalisation Interior Engineering team, this role has dual responsibility and is a chance to make a real impact on the future direction of travel of the Vehicle Personalisation team responsible for repositioning our products as the most luxurious offering available to our most discerning of clients.

 

The first part of the role is a Subject Matter Expert related position, centred around Off Cycle development, meaning Pre-Programme.  Primarily your focus will be on composite engineering and general innovation but may change based on Business needs.You will be a driving force within a growing Interiors team, working cross functionally, to drive greater and greater innovation into our low volume projects in the future.  The role will be key in achieving our ambitions to continuously operate at the bleeding edge of suitable technologies and deliver and maintain our position as a world leader in Interior personalisation.

 

The second part of the role is centred around Design Engineering and CAD capability.  This will be key in supporting the On Cycle (live) Programme Engineers and will include everything from modelling to DWG generation, CAD analysis and sectioning.  To enable this side of the role, a supplemental Design Engineer role will also be put in place, with day-to-day leadership of that role assigned to the Composite, Innovation & Design Engineering Leader. This role may need to cover CAD activities on a day-to-day basis, particularly ahead of the recruitment of the dedicated Design Engineer.  Once the Design Engineer role is filled, this role will be responsible for day-to-day management of that Design Engineer and prioritisation and workflow management of CAD tasks from across the wider Engineering team within Vehicle Personalisation.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct research into new technologies, systems and methods and tools using industry specific tools.

  • Provide technical expertise in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes.

  • Support the specific development of new technologies or systems to  colleagues supporting the assigned project.

  • Research concept ideas using complex modelling to work out whether new developments and innovations would work and be cost effective.

  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices, industry movements and future trends.

 

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

 

  • Previous experience in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes.

  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools.

  • A keen interest in bleeding edge technologies.

  • Prior experience leading development, collation and ownership of Engineering Excellence documentation (lessons learnt, best practices etc).

  • Catia modelling capability.
