The post will be a part of the Surgical Junior Doctor tier at University Hospital Llandough, taking a share of the on call duties and gaining exposure to a wide range of surgical conditions including Orthopaedics, Breast, ENT, Max Fax, General Surgery, Urology and Gynaecology, while being fully supported by an appropriate junior and senior team.

This will include access to clinical supervision as well as internal educational and training opportunities. The successful applicant will gain experience across a range of general surgical ward areas. The post has a core service purpose to support the safe delivery of care to the wards and acute unselected surgical on call rota.

Exposure to a specialty at F3 grade can help to round out a CV, meet portfolio requirements & clarify the level of interest in obtaining a training post in a specialty.

We aim to deliver the best experience and training possible, within the service requirements of the hospital.

Main duties of the job

The Trust will make best attempts to place successful candidates in their chosen specialty or specialties, as part of the recruitment process. In the event that there are multiple requests for the same specialty, which exceed the staffing/capacity requirements, then the Trust will offer alternative options so that all appointees get the best experience possible.

Job responsibilities

The post will be a part of the Surgical Junior Doctor tier at University Hospital Llandough and Surgical Hub @Llandough, taking a share of the on-call duties and gaining exposure to a wide range of surgical conditions, including Orthopaedics, Breast, ENT, Max Fax, General Surgery, Urology and Gynaecology, while being fully supported by an appropriate junior and senior team.

The postholder will gain experience across a range of general surgical ward areas. The post has a core service purpose to support the safe delivery of care to the wards and acute surgical on call rota.

The postholder will be able to access clinical supervision as well as internal educational and training opportunities. Exposure to a specialty at F3 grade can help to round out a CV, meet portfolio requirements and clarify the level of interest in obtaining a training post in a specialty. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to regular unit based audit and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications
Essential

MBBS or equivalent Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

Desirable

Intercalated Degree MSc or PhD Academic excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc.) MRCS (UK) Part 1

Experience

Clinical experience Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance
