Purpose of the Post:

To function as part of a relief team of social care staff providing a high standard of personal care and support to people living within a Residential care setting.

The post holder is responsible for the following:

To undertake care duties with service users ensuring that the base values of privacy and dignity are paramount at all times.

The Residential Care Officer will receive advice, assistance and guidance from the Management Team at the Unit/Centre.

The Residential Care Officer should highlight any identified training needs to the relevant manager.

Following training the Residential Care Officer will be expected to undertake the full range of duties of the role including the use of manual handling equipment and fire safety evacuation aides should an emergency occur.

The Residential Care Officer will undertake outreach work within the community, enabling service users to access community facilities.

To liaise with families, friends, carers and other professionals ensuring the profile and professionalism of the Department is reflected at all times.

To highlight to the managers any shortfall in service provision and suggestions as to how to overcome them.

To work with service users on identified/planned rehabilitation programmes and keep detailed records of progress. Feb 2018

To attend and fully participate in the discussions involved in reviews.

The Residential Day Care Officer will be expected to undertake key-worker responsibilities following appropriate training.

Duties which may be allocated from time to time which are appropriate to the grade and post, and which are not of a substantial ongoing nature to affect the grading of the post.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and you must therefore make a true disclosure of all criminal convictions made against you.

To undertake the Health and Safety responsibilities which fall within a manager’s role and the personal Health and Safety responsibilities within the HASAWA 1974.

To assist in the development of initiatives, e.g. Investors in People; Performance Management and Appraisal; Continuous Professional Development, etc.

To ensure that all activities are operated in accordance with Equal Opportunities.
