The Company:

Axon Moore are working with a growing group of companies which consists of 3 businesses in the retail sector based in Stockport, in their search for an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their team. They have recently had to move into a larger location with more office space to accommodate the growth. The Finance team is still quite small, so theyâve got a really nice culture and teamwork ethic.

The Role:

You will be fully responsible for the Purchase Ledger in what is a fast paced, high volume role. Youâll be processing invoices, matching them to POs, checking for accuracy and making payments. Any queries or issues will be proactively resolved. They are also looking at automations and how they can make the process more efficient, so this will also be something youâd be heavily involved in.

Salary & Benefits:

£26,000 - £28,000 DOE, 22 days holiday plus banks, pension, free parking, cycle to work scheme, development opportunities, flexibility on working hours.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders, checking and querying where needed
  • Accurately processing a high volume of invoices, checking accuracy and according to company policies.
  • Cross reference purchase prices on invoices to supplier price lists to ensure accuracy in billing.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any outstanding queries.
  • Raise and manage queries with suppliers regarding disputes, discrepancies or other invoice issues.
  • Prepare payment runs, ensuring that all payments to suppliers are made on time and accurately recorded.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchase ledger activities in Sage 200.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the PL process is correct.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, providing documentation and reports to the finance manager.
  • Continuously review and improve purchase ledger processes to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Being involved in system improvements and automations and ensuring sound data administration.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working Purchase Ledger and managing the end-to-end process
  • Experience of Sage 200 would be beneficial
  • Experience in the retail sector or with stock would be ideal
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills â able to perform VLookup and Pivot table functions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Have a demonstrable energy, flexibility, proactivity and a âcan doâ attitude
  • Proven ability of working to a high standard while multi-tasking
  • Working accurately to deadlines
