We have a new, exciting opportunity to recruit two part-time Befriending Coordinators (18.5 hours per week each) to spearhead a new initiative across Fylde and Wyre. Both positions will be employed by Wyre Council, with one based in the Communities Team at Fylde Council and the other in the Leisure, Healthy Lifestyles and Communities Team at Wyre Council.

Role Overview: The successful candidates will collaborate to develop, implement and manage a befriending service across the two boroughs aimed at reducing social isolation among vulnerable individuals. Key responsibilities include:

Developing and managing the befriending service Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to engage with and support people to re-connect with their local community Creating and implementing relevant policies and procedures Designing volunteer recruitment strategies to attract individuals passionate about reducing social isolation Fostering partnerships with community groups and stakeholders Maintaining accurate and current records

These roles will be pivotal in enhancing community well-being through volunteer engagement and support for isolated residents and will be ideal for individuals who want to make a difference.

Ideal Candidates: We're looking for compassionate individuals eager to make a positive impact. The ideal candidates will possess:

A degree or equivalent experience in social work, community development, volunteer management, or a related field Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) Excellent organisational and time management abilities Empathy, patience, and a genuine dedication to helping others
