The opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Diagnostic and Progression Lecturer in Fashion and Textiles (0.6 FTE) to teach in the Fashion and Textiles curriculum area on the UAL foundation course based at Archway and Lime Grove. This role is fixed term maternity cover for the academic year 2024/25.
You will teach groups of students specialising in Fashion and Textiles, preparing for and delivering structured learning experiences including classes, tutorials, workshops, and studio critiques. As part of the course team, you will participate in formative and summative assessment. You will contribute to course development and quality assurance processes through engagement in course planning meetings and will maintain effective communication with your line manager, colleagues, and students. We are expecting the new staff member to work three days a week and are looking for a start date in June 2024.
About you
You'll be a highly creative and motivated individual who is active in your specialist field, specifically Fashion Design, and preferably has experience of delivering high quality learning experiences within Further and/or Higher Education. As an effective communicator, confident in your ability to deal with a large and diverse student cohort, you'll be good at working collaboratively in a team, bringing ideas and new approaches to teaching and learning to support excellent pedagogy.
You will possess an academic background in fashion design or will be currently practicing in the fashion industry.
DBS checks will be required for this role.
