Library Services Assistant

We are looking for a Library Services Assistant to support students to access our resources, maintain the Library and provide administrative support for the team. This role is 35 hours a week for 34 weeks (term-time). The hours required are 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday. This is a vacancy for a 27 August, 2024 start.

The Library Services Assistant forms part of the experienced and focused Student Experience team at the College and is integral to the smooth running of the Library as a vital resource to our students.

Your Duties

You will:

  • Support students to access resources, including managing the library collection and promoting information on literacy skills
  • Maintain the library to ensure it is an inviting, inclusive space for all students and staff
  • Provide administrative support for the smooth running of the library and any wider student experience activities throughout the year
  • Support with the implementation of guest speakers and authors to increase the footfall to the library and enrich the student experience

Person Specification

The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:

  • Minimum of grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
  • Commitment to and evidence of CPD
  • Experience of working within a similar role
  • Commitment to enhancing the experience through service excellence
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective team working
  • Excellent IT skills with the ability to use the range of Microsoft packages

£15,616 pa (pro rata to the full time equivalent of £22,308.00 pa)
