Job descriptions will be reviewed annually, in consultation with the Headteacher.

JOB PURPOSE

To support the classroom teacher with their responsibility for the development and education process by providing care and supervision skills to children, including those who have special educational needs, by utilising a good standard of practical knowledge and skills.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Enjoy working with children. Able to have a good rapport with children. Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Enthusiastic Hardworking, flexible and motivated. Team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Good verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with carers and parents. Able to take the initiative. Able to act with sensitivity and confidentiality. Supportive of the Christian ethos of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS

Maths and English GCSE grade C (or equivalent) - please include this information in your application form.

Qualifications relating to the role of TA (or evidence of working towards gaining such qualifications) are desirable but not essential.

OUTLINE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Under the direction and control of the Classroom Teacher and with support and guidance from the Headteacher

Supervise the activities of individuals or groups of children to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development. Deliver those activities necessary to meet the physical and emotional needs of individuals and groups of children, including pupils with educational, physical or emotional special needs. Monitor individual pupil progress, achievements and needs and report these to the class teacher or SENDCo as appropriate. Actively engage in the planned educational activities and work programmes and to assist in personal and individual development of individuals or groups of pupils. Contribute to the planning of work to meet the needs of the National Curriculum and individual pupils’ needs. To display and present children’s work To be responsible for visual aids as necessary and to prepare resources and materials for lesson activities Assist with the handling of equipment necessary for teaching and learning General supervision and discipline of children within the school’s agreed behaviour policy and other associated guidance
