Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:
- Perform routine and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, including conveyors, shredders, balers, and other recycling machinery.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
- Collaborate with the operations team to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work completed, parts used, and time spent.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment upgrades.
Requirements for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, ideally within a recycling, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy industrial machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and safe work practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) preferred.
