WHAT TO EXPECT


Rotating Machine Test Delivery (RMTD) is responsible for the preparation and testing of prototype ICE (internal Combustion Engines), EDU (Electric Drive Units), PIL (Powertrain In Loop) and E-machines, supporting the overall powertrain cycle plan. 


Fabrication and Machine Shop are a big part of supporting the team to deliver this. RMTD supports this activity by establishing support and control of customer test requirements ensuring that Units are tested to the correct procedure and processes, delivering high-quality data. 


You will be responsible for the operation of the palletisation area fabrication workshops at the Whitley Plant. You will support the operational delivery and will provide support and direction to the hourly teams. The RMTD department supports all JLR engine powertrain products at Whitley, Gaydon and Satellite sites. You will be required to interact with several stakeholders, including Engineering teams and other supervision.

 

Please be aware that this role involves shift work 


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 


    To provide technical and supervisory leadership and effective allocation of resource and prioritisation of tasks across different workshops
    To identify inefficiencies in the current process and deliver improvements.
    To ensure a high quality and standard of work and maintain an engaged workforce.
    To be responsible for the skills evaluation and training matrix
    Health & Safety responsibilities 
    Improve customer interaction and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED 


    Experience in a Mechanical / Manufacturing engineering background 
    Experience in a testing environment, with a knowledge of measurement technology and facility requirements.  
    Experience of leading a team of 10 plus direct reports 
    Ability to plan effectively and achieve quality results. 
    Natural problem-solver with experience and structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
    Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessment, COSHH and MSDS.
