Environmental Health Officer in Rhondda Cynon Taf

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful candidates must possess a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent recognised by the CIEH. You will expected to be EHORB registered or CIEH registered Environmental Health Practitioner on appointment, however if you are not registered, we will require you to undertake the appropriate pathway to become a registered EHP accredited by the CIEH within 18 months of employment. 

You will undertake a range of duties including routine proactive and reactive food safety and health and safety interventions. You will investigate accidents, food complaints, infectious diseases, and deal with requests for service that are received from members of the public, businesses, and local councillors/members. In addition, you will have your own workload whilst providing support to technical staff within the team.  

Competence in assessing compliance with regulatory requirements regarding food safety and health and safety is essential. Experience in the investigation of communicable diseases is desirable.

You will need to be flexible to meet the requirements of the post and ensure the Council meets its Statutory Duties, including working evenings and weekends.

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.

In addition to this safeguarding responsibility, the successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
