The Self-Lay team sits within our Developer Services department. We manage the adoption and diversion processes for sewerage and water supply infrastructure across Wales (South and North) where our customers (e.g. housing developers) install clean and/or wastewater networks and Welsh Water become responsible for their maintenance on the conclusion of a build.
You will manage the end-to-end process, from technical assessment of the proposed network design, to ensuring that any defects with the installed assets are identified and rectified to the required standards. To enable you to do this, you will need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, providing advice to our customers and keeping them informed of progress.
With your experience of providing technical support and guidance to a range customers and colleagues you will ensure that Welsh Water's interests are protected at all times and that risks to our Customers, Services and the Environment are minimised.
As a Sewer Adoption Engineer you will be responsible for:
Assessment and processing of adoption and diversion applications for sewer networks, within a specified geographical area.
Ensuring applications are reviewed in accordance with the relevant standards and the appropriate processes are adhered to within regulatory timescales.
Ensuring that our record system is updated to reflect most recent information at each step in the process.
Monitoring and reviewing scheme fees to ensure that schemes are completed within budget and any additional costs are recovered.
Undertaking all project closure procedures ensuring that all financial and technical duties are completed.
Being responsible for the achievement of timescales for job elements as delegated by the Senior Adoption Engineer to achieve the overall scheme Levels of Service.
Compliance with current health and safety legislation and policies at all times during the execution of all activities.
Input into, and participate in, monthly reporting and reviews.
Compliance with processes and procedures at all times during the execution of all activities.
Working collaboratively with other team members.

About you
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
A relevant engineering background with a minimum HND or equivalent qualification
Experience within the water or construction industry
Experience of designing or vetting in line with Sewers for Adoption / Welsh Ministers Standards
Good understanding of drainage issues
Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
Ability to work to tight regulatory and project deadlines
Good to know
This position can be taken anywhere within the Wales region, base to be agreed with successful candidate.
Requirement to attend the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
Daily office attendance for the first 2 weeks of appointment.
37 hours a week, Monday – Friday
