Family Support Practitioner

Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom Norfolk County Council Full time

Permanent contract | 37 hours per week | £32,076 to £33,945 per annum (Grade H) | Great Yarmouth

Family Practitioner

Children’s Services are seeking to recruit an experienced Family Practitioner for our Family Help and High Needs Team covering Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas.

The position is based at Havenbridge House in Great Yarmouth.

Our purpose in Family Support is to keep children and young people safe through early intervention to prevent the need for statutory involvement. We do this working alongside the family, their network and other professionals naming and addressing worries, creating plans which identify the support needed to achieve positive outcomes and empower the family to effect change.

As a Family Practitioner you will use your knowledge and skills to complete direct work and interventions with the children on your caseload using a range of resources to ensure you are capturing what life is like for them and to improve outcomes.

The role of a Family Practitioner is varied and at times can be challenging so a high level of resilience is needed. It is fast paced so you will need to be flexible, use your initiative and skill set to manage your workload. A family’s needs and situation can change so you will need to be able to prioritise, adapt your practice and remain calm in what could be difficult situations.

Family Support is a strengths-based service where the child is at the centre of our work, their voice and views are the most important. You will need to be able to identify and understand risk and keep this under review this throughout the case.

You will need good IT skills (being proficient in Word, Excel and databases) and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.

For an informal discussion about these posts please contact Mairi Hutchinson, Prevention Team Manager – Family Help and High Needs via email in the first instance at mairi.hutchinson@norfolk.gov.uk

Before you apply, we recommend reading the full Job Description and Person Specification to help you demonstrate you meet the criteria.
