Norwich, United Kingdom University of East Anglia Full time

Salary on appointment will be £37,099 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £44,263 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Biological Sciences to conduct studies on plant biochemistry and molecular genetics in the group of Dr Ben Miller.

As a Senior Research Associate you will be associated with a particular project (see the attached Candidate Brochure) and be an experienced and motivated researcher with a previous track record in plant molecular sciences and/or in protein purification and biochemical characterisation.

You will design, plan and conduct experiments and will be involved in data generation/collection using methods developed by others and yourself, with direction from the Principal Investigator (Dr Ben Miller). You will analyse and interpret data, write up results, and present information on research progress and outcomes, including with the Principal Investigator, other lab members and collaborators.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to grant applications, be involved in the supervision of researchers and teaching of students within the School, and communicating the work to immediate colleagues and to scientists at international conferences and the general public at local and regional events. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of data and up-to-date protocols/procedures and the safe, long-term storage and archiving of data and any reagents and tools that are generated during the project. You will also be involved in the preparation and writing of manuscripts, and will be encouraged to participate in relevant courses for further training and personal development.

You will have a PhD (or be near to completion, within 6 months of appointment) in a relevant subject area, for example molecular biology, biochemistry and/or plant biology. You will also have experience of independent research, have publications in respected journals, and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high-paced research environment. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team.
