We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Officer to join the Family Information, Childcare and Play Team to support and retain existing registered childminders within Carmarthenshire and to work towards securing ‘sufficient’ childcare to meet the needs of local parents/carers.

This is an engaging role working with third party organisations to promote, recruit, train and support additional new childminders within Carmarthenshire, targeting specific areas where gaps in provision have been identified. You will be joining a well established and supportive Team.

You will be responsible for promoting and publicising childminding as a career option providing business support to fulfil the requirements of the statutory duty supporting parents to access high quality home based childcare provision.  

We are looking for a fluent Welsh Speaker as you will be required to deal with bilingual enquiries and deliver presentations and training bilingually.

(The post may be extended beyond 31 March 2025 if further Welsh Government funding is obtained.)

Job Description:  

DBS level:  

An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk

Welsh language level - Verbal:  

Level 5 - You will need to be able to communicate fluently in Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
