Critical to Openreach's commercial future will be our ability to manage the decling legacy base of our Copper based network and how we manage this efficiently from a unit cost basis. This includes the Repair costs in Opex and Investment capex programmes including the desk costs for the Copper team. This role will be pivotal to understanding and controlling our costs, and driving the business to achieve material unit cost reductions year on year. This will include linking in with transformation teams to drive cost reductions and cost management and working with operations on decision making that will deliver the targets.

What you'll be doing

Commercial Thinking

Business Partner for all Repair costs in Openreach; including copper programmes, i.e. FVR, ACR, etc. and

Copper desk costs optimisation

Transformation lead for GB Ops

Communicating

Communicating with the business on the component parts of unit costs for repair costs, driving ownership and accountability within the Copper team. Driving action led insight through the financials to drive positive financial outcomes.

Communicate to exec level the unit metrics and insight behind year-on-year movements variances to MTP.

Financial performance

Accountable for business performance of Copper repair. Specifically;

- period end reporting, outlook and MTP for ;

Copper repair costs at a unit cost level and total cost level
Copper repair SLGs at a unit cost level and total cost level
Period end reporting, outlook and MTP for ;
Investment programme capex programmes

Skills and experience
  • An ability to communicate clearly & concisely. Telling the story of the Copper repair and desk business performance to multiple non-finance audiences
  • Pragmatic team player, adept at holding others to account through a challenging and supportive style, whilst consistently delivering on their own commitments
  • An ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects, working to tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage ambiguity
  • Advisor and coach to others both within own team and elsewhere, formulates their operational guidelines or in-depth knowledge and advises on specialist area
  • Leads, championsand manages conflicting priorities
Desired qualifications / experience

Bachelor's degree in business or related field (or equivalent experience)

Fully qualified accountant / Further qualification to support specialism with significant PQE
