This leading, national law firm is currently looking to hire a Court of Protection Solicitor, based in Leeds on a hybrid basis. This is a thriving and growing area of the business and there is considerable scope for career development. The role is in a supportive and lively team working collaboratively.

You will have a minimum of 3 years PQE to be considered for this role and the position will see you assisting and leading the court of protection department to provide deputyship and trustee support to clients who have personal injury or clinical negligence claims, which involve the management of substantial compensation awards.

Main responsibilities for the role:

  1. You will be running your own caseload of Deputyship and Trustee matters, both pre and post settlement of the PI claim whilst supervising junior fee earners and providing technical support to the team
  2. Attending clients at their home, or in hospital or in care/nursing homes, to discuss and agree budgets and identify other priorities
  3. Liaising with financial advisors on investments
  4. Preparing accurate accounts of Deputyship cases including forecasts of expenditure on Deputyship and Trustee cases, including creating budgets to ensure funding sustainability
  5. Management of Deputyship applications and other associated applications to the Court of Protection
  6. Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriate
  7. Contribute to regular team meetings and training sessions
  8. To actively engage in business development plans

To be considered for this role you will have a minimum of 3 years PQE in Court of Protection property and affairs work as well as experience of setting up and running PI trusts and experience of making applications for statutory wills and gifts.
