Full Job Description The Emily Hobhouse Museum to be opened in St Ive, near Liskeard,Cornwall (UK), has an exciting opportunity for a general manager. Therole includes overseeing the visitor attraction shop, museumexperience, kitchen garden and restaurant.

Requirements:nAqualification in hospitality management or businessmanagement.nRelevant experience in hotel management, restaurantmanagement or visitor attraction management.nExcellent verbal andwritten communication skills, as well as presentation skills.nProvenability to manage a team.nExperience of financial management.nApassionate disposition and the ability to maintain high standardsunder pressure.nFluent in English and Afrikaans.nInterest in SouthAfrican history will beadvantageous.

Responsibilities:nBuilding and leading a teamof personnel who will facilitate visitor attractions across variousdepartments (exhibitions, restaurant, maintenance).nCreating andfacilitating a unique guest experience.nUpkeep of all museuminstallations, of which some could be technically complex.nOverseeingmanagement of restaurant team.nManaging site maintenance, includinggardens and grounds.nDefining long-term goals, developing businessmodels, and implementing such plans.nBuilding on employee strengthsand positioning teams accordingly.nManaging suppliers and buildingstrong community relations.nManaging the museum’s operations andbudget.nManaging the museum’s marketing, public relations, andcommunity engagement.
