The role
As a Director - People Services, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible for the elements of the People Function that deliver a service to our Global organisation, including the leadership of our People Centre (employee lifecycle services including payroll), Recruitment and Resourcing, development of our Early Career strategies (including our Graduate Development and Apprenticeship Programmes) and our People Data and Analytics Team. You will also play a key role in developing the People Function and contribute to the successful delivery of the People Strategy.

Day-to-day, you’ll report into the CPO and a member of the People Leadership Team you will actively and proactively collaborate with all of our People Function and across our Global business to support our UK Sectors and International Direct Reporting Countries (DRC’s) by delivering a high quality effective, organisation-focused approach to our People Services. Lead, motivate and develop the People Services function to deliver exceptional support to our UK Sectors and DRCs. Devise, initiate and deliver a transformative and innovative People Services function that aligns fully with our operational business priorities and identify development opportunities to maintain and evolve this service provision. 

Further responsibilities include:

  • Lead effective contract management of our outsourced recruitment service and develop effective resourcing strategies aligned to our Global capability and skills requirement
  • Develop and report on a set of operating people data metrics that are meaningful to the Sectors and DRCs Align these to our wider business priorities contributing to organisational performance and encouraging business-focused, people related decisions
  • Ensure high levels of service delivery against delivery metrics, keeping them continuously under review
  • Ensure high levels of engagement with internal customers to remain tuned into the business priorities, and to ensure feedback is heard and acted upon to drive improvement
  • Respond to surge requirements by deploying flexible support models whilst maintaining operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with the PLT to refine, drive and deliver the People Strategy
  • Contribute to the success of the People Strategy and wider Organisational Strategy
  • Collaborate with IT to deliver a transformed technology offering including the use and deployment of Success Factors, and provision of advanced People Analytics to drive business performance

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Director - People Services:

  • Extensive senior level leadership experience in large, complex organisations, including leadership of a performing operational service
  • Experience in operational delivery to internal or external customers
  • Experience in delivering organisational change to drive high performance
  • Able to operate at a strategic level with senior stakeholders and tune into business performance and organisational strategy
  • Experience of contract management and service level agreements
  • Experience managing relationships with external partners and suppliers to retain operational independence and value for money
  • Extensive experience in managing large service-based contracts and delivering change to support value-driven business solutions
  • Highly Collaborative and able to put the needs of the function and business first, whilst negotiating to manage conflicting views and priorities to build alignment at pace and commitment to a plan
  • Knowledge of the HR legislative and regulatory landscape is desirable
  • Experience of HR/Payroll technology platforms and services is desirable
  • Experience delivering large scale process and performance improvement is desirable
  • Experience operating in a Global organisation and operating across international boundaries is desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
