Job Purpose:

Our client is bidding for a workflow migration project in the Media and Entertainment

industry. The end customer is a global sports brand. The workflows are running today in AWS, and moving to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). These positions will advise on GCP capabilities and best practices, and carry out cloud workload build and migration tasks within the overall transition project.

Department/Location: Minimum two office days per week for the first 3 months, then reducing to one per

week. Office location TBC in south Wales or south-east UK. Otherwise WFH.

Reporting to: Managing Director

Hours of Work: 40h/week basic. Weekend and evening working may be necessary.

Salary Range: Six months initial fixed-term contract @ £75k pro-rata

Main Responsibilities:

The Cloud Engineers will build and document new services and infrastructure in GCP to support the migration of approximately 15 existing live workloads from AWS. They will assist in the build and implementation of tools to migrate data from the legacy platform. They will help the project team ensure that live services continue to run without interruption.

The Cloud Engineers will work within a formal Project team, and will support the end customer’s Project Manager to plan and execute a seamless switchover to GCP. They will work with multiple suppliers to build out GCP infrastructure for third-party systems. They will, where required, advise and support third party suppliers who are new to GCP.

The migrating workflows will include high volume data handling, video live streaming & transcode, video archive, and integrations with third party services. They will also ensure that the new GCP build meets relevant security standards and withstands security investigations including penetration testing.

Person Specification :

Essential Desirable Qualifications & training:

Degree or equivalent in Computer Science

Current AWS certification (e.g Solutions or related field Architect Associate)

Must have a current GCP certification (Professional Cloud Architect/Developer or equivalent)

Excellent spoken and written English

Right to work in the UK

Previous experience:

Demonstrable experience deploying AWS build/deploy complex back end services in GCP

Video handling (live or recorded)

Skills:

Terraform

GCP - Must be GCP qualified

AWS

Personal qualities:

Collaborative, approachable, flexible.

Excellent personal presentation and liaison skills, especially with senior customer representatives.

Able to work in a fast-moving technology environment, and deal with the demands of live sports production for a global television and social media audience.
