Bam were appointed as a construction partner to the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) in 2017 and were re-appointed for phase 2 of the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Project in 2020.BAM Nuttall is currently recruiting for a Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor to support the Senior Environmental Sustainability Manageron the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Project.
Your work environment
BAM operates a flexible working policy
Attendance at the office will be required, but some flexible working is permissible with the approval of the hiring manager.
Remote management of on-site Environmental Engineer to ensure suitable checks on environmental compliance are undertaken at the required intervals.
Implementation of environmental monitoring systems including liaison with manufacturers and BAS on improvements to the existing system. Regular reporting of environmental monitoring data to BAS
Management of biosecurity process including carrying out biosecurity audits and inspections at material suppliers and logistics hubs and liaison with suppliers regarding biosecurity regulations.
Management of waste removal from Antarctica and arrangements for waste transfer and disposal in the UK.
Entry of waste data and other information to Smart Waste to meet BAM EMS requirements
Promote carbon focus and innovation to drive projects on the path to Net Zero
Input to and review of Project Execution Plan (including Environmental Management Plan) and Activity Plans/Risk Assessments.
Engagement and contribution to the ECI stages of task orders to ensure Partnerships environmental obligations are achieved.
Supporting the Senior Environmental Manager in the implementation of the BAM Sustainability Strategy relevant to the BAS projects.
Awareness and understanding of regulatory, legislative and company requirements with regards to environmental management.
Experience working on construction projects, ideally in the UK.
Technical qualification in Environmental Management or experience working in an environmental role.
Experience of working with a team, both co-located and operating remotely.
Membership of an environmental professional bodies, e.g. Understanding of BAM digital construction vision and its application
