Job Description

Taylor & Francis is looking for a highly skilled Full-Stack Software Developer to join our growing Technical Innovation team as we work towards our shared purpose, to foster human progress through knowledge. Academic research continues to grow at exponential rates. Our challenge: Provide innovative products and services that enable the creation and consumption of that knowledge more quickly and effectively.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop and deliver software products and services.
  • Work to establish reliable data pipelines to help service the team with consistent, well managed data:

(1) Understanding requirements from stakeholders

(2) Design data pipelines and APIs

(3) Agree designs with Innovation team and stakeholders

(4) Implement solution independently or in conjunction with other team members

  • Understand and help refine the requirements of new products, services and concepts.
  • Evaluate and leverage and integrate 3rd Party solutions as part of an overall software solution.

Qualifications

In order to be successful in this role you will:

  • have strong and demonstrated hands-on experience as a software engineer/developer with proven skills in application design, architecture and development (essential)
  • have experience in creating systems that leverage or incorporate AI into an overall solution (desirable)
  • We are looking for candidates with a broad range of skills that include:
  • Experience in data manipulation and related data technologies. These range from typical relational databases to more specialized data stores that enable the efficient use of AI.
  • Experience creating and using restful services and web applications.
  • A range of experience across multiple languages and technologies. Including not less than three of Linux, Windows, Java, Javascript, Python, C#, SQL, MongoDB, Neo4j.
  • Experience in various front-end technologies such as React, Angular and JQuery.

Skills and Behaviours Required:

  • A proven history of progressing from concept to MVP quickly and iteratively.
  • A proven history of working productively as a member of a remote, global team, alongside evidence of independent working
  • Be able to demonstrate and foster critical thinking and problem solving in a team environment.
  • A proven history of learning and adopting new technology quickly
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

Please note: You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this role.

Location: This role is offered on a truly balanced working/hybrid model with the successful candidate using our Milton Park location as their office hub. We ask that you are able to commute into the office up to twice a month, with the rest of your time working from home.
