The EMC Team tests and certifies consumer technology products for the electromagnetic field strength of their emissions, often testing the very latest innovations in technology. The team is renowned at The client for having a great team spirit and togetherness, combined with a wealth of technical knowledge and experience to draw on.
The EMC Team now has a fantastic opportunity available for a Junior Project Manager who will oversee customer projects end-to-end, providing a first-class experience and applying expertise and guidance to the customer on EMC Standards. You should see this position as the perfect blend of your technical knowledge and efficient project management. It would ideally suit someone who has built a successful technical career either within EMC or an adjacent technical field such as Radio Frequency (RF) and is now seeking to take the next step in their career towards project-based engineering delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply technical expertise in EMC standards to guide the customer.
- Independently determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing customer input, available supplemental data, and product construction.
- Projects may include frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites across the UK.
- Initiate communication with customers to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services The client offers.
- Help customers with technical issues, explaining The client's procedures and requirements, conveying project costs, and negotiating completion dates and sample requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to clients regarding product inspection and follow-up services.
- Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer information, examining samples, and applying The client's requirements.
- Notify clients of any areas in which the product is not in compliance with The client's requirements or of any changes in project scope or specifications.
- Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions for technicians, scheduling and reviewing the work of Laboratory Technicians and support staff, and establishing completion dates.
- Serve as Project Handler of record and may sign as Reviewer of Record as assigned.
- Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.
- Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Develop special test methods and test equipment.
- Represent The client at industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
- May direct and review the work of assigned staff.
- May train office, field, and/or laboratory staff and entry-level engineers.
- Provide technical assistance to laboratory and/or field staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- We are seeking a candidate who has been building their career as an Engineer within the field of Wireless Technologies such as EMC or Radio Frequency (RF) and is now seeking to make a step-change towards the Project Management side of Engineering.
- You will be seen as a technical expert on Standards (EMC or RF) and be able to guide and advise customers on testing projects.
- Ideally, you will possess a University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
- Your experience profile should be in the region of 4-5 years gained within a relevant field - EMC or Radio Frequency.
- Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
- Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in the area of expertise.
- A strong customer-focus, with the ability to see things from a customer’s point of view.
- A solution-driven mindset, with the vision to seek positive solutions to solve customers' problems.
- Able to communicate expertly with customers in English, both verbally and written.
