This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Public Health Team as a Public Health Analyst and Research Officer. In this role, you’ll be primarily supporting a variety of projects by conducting high quality research and interrogating population health data, to enable understanding of health needs and outcomes, existing health inequalities, and characteristics in the population. This will involve conducting health needs assessments alongside analysing, interpreting, and communicating quantitative and qualitative findings, using statistical programmes and data visualisation tools.
We don’t expect you to be an expert at this stage, but the role would suit someone with experience of accessing, appraising, and manipulating public health or epidemiological datasets, either from studies or existing work settings. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, learn, and develop your skills in quantitative methods and data analysis as you progress.
You’ll be joining the wider Public Health team in Hounslow as part of the Behaviour Change and Population Health Management sub-team. Staffed by data analysts, researchers, behavioural scientists, and engagement specialists, we support health and wellbeing projects and services with evidence-based decision making. We do this by conducting research alongside qualitative and quantitative analysis, to segment and risk stratify cohorts, to help design more effective services and more targeted interventions.
The team works across the Hounslow Borough Based Partnership to support the partnership’s approach to reduce health inequalities, informing and evaluating a variety of projects on the go, such as vaccination campaigns, falls prevention services, and cancer screening.
The role will report to the Senior Public Health Officer leading on Wider Determinants of Health and Population Health Analysis.
We are looking for an individual with Public Health skills, who is keen to develop their career in the field. Analytical Skills: You have strong analytical skills to organise, extract, and analyse data effectively. This includes the ability to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform population health initiatives and projects as well as ensure quality and accuracy of data.
# Technical Proficiency: You are proficient in using data tools and statistical platforms, for example, Excel, Power BI, SQL, R, Tableau, and GIS software. The candidate should be able to demonstrate skills in using these tools to produce high-quality datasets, visualisations, dashboards, and presentations.
# Critical Thinking: The ability to ensure accuracy and reliability in findings as well as asking insightful questions is essential for uncovering meaningful insights from data. You develop excellent and effective working relationships with your team, and a wide range of stakeholders, and enjoy working collaboratively with other specialist team members to develop public health outcomes.
