Are you an experience design engineer with excellent people skills used to bringing the best out of your team?

An exciting opportunity for a Head of Design has arisen for a specialist manufacturer based on the outskirts of Portsmouth. You will lead a skilled design team with the help of two team leaders overseeing fifteen talented design engineers. This is a great time to be joining this company as they continue their growth producing an expanding catalogue or products for use in the marine industry. This is fantastic chance for you to join a growing company who are part of a global group with an outstanding reputation for quality.

The job role and responsibilities:

As Head of Design you will have the following duties within your role:

  • Manage the design and development and launch of new products
  • Mentor, coach and train your design engineers
  • Develop initial design concepts and develop timings as well as product performance
  • Liaise regularly with patent attorneys to protect intellectual property
  • Make quality and performance improvements to products

The requirements:

To be suitable for the role of Head of Design you will ideally have the following experience and skillset:

  • Degree qualified or similar within mechanical engineering or similar
  • You will have experience leading from the front and managing a team of engineers
  • Experience with 3D CAD design
  • Proven technical engineering knowledge as well as some knowledge of electro-mechanical products
  • You will have a successful track record of designing and bringing new products to market.
