The Vacancy
Due to significant investment and growth plans here at EMIS, we are looking for a Security Operations Consultant to come and join us on a permanent basis to ensure security in our products and services across acute, primary, mental health and children’s care.
This is a great chance to join a brand-new team and help establish a key function within the business. You will be implementing best practices, ways of working, tools and technologies. This is a real opportunity to impart your knowledge, upskill and grow your technical expertise. While this is a new team, you will be working closely with our central InfoSec function to ensure uniformity of standards and approach across the wider business.
What you’ll do
It sounds cliché, but we are a fast-paced and ever-changing organisation, and we will keep you busy, but we have fun along the way.
You will work closely in collaboration with teams across the business to ensure security in the application, infrastructure and software development lifecycles.
We will be looking for you to analyse the current state of play and make recommendations on how we can enhance our Security posture. You will also take a hands-on role in making sure any recommendations are actioned and brought to fruition.
Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;
- Security monitoring of everything in the IT environment, public and private cloud infrastructures. This also includes configuration and monitoring of any security tools
- Implementing incident response protocols and take the appropriate steps to contain and minimize any damage.
- Communicate any security incidents with the team and necessary staff
- Reporting on evaluations and recommendations for improvement
- Service design reviews to ensure that we build all our services as secure by design. Early intervention prevents more notable problems that are harder to fix later

You will have demonstrable experience/knowledge in Security Operations across all levels.
Other skills and experience we are looking for you to demonstrate include;
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities
- Ability to perform advanced threat analysis and correlation
- Ability to design and implement practices and ways of working
- Strong incident response and forensic investigation skills
- Hands on security engineering
- Cloud security
- Working with the Microsoft an AWS technology stacks, amongst others
