This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced manager to work within Adult Social Care as a Deputy Head of Service for Safeguarding, Mental Health and Learning Disability. In this role you will have operational responsibility for several key areas of provision within Adult Services and will workstrategically across the health and care system with the service and external partners to design and lead the provision of high-quality accessible support and services that promote independence wellbeing and choice.
As well as advising on policy and changes to legislative framework you will contribute to the writing of local policies and procedures interpreting, implementing and providing guidance on complex national and local policy guidance. This will include working with Childrens services to ensure safe and effective transitional safeguarding with an emphasis on a partnership approach to create pathways that address the young persons contextual needs as well as adhering to established statutory transition routes.
You will be responsible for the line management and service development across all areas of responsibility especially the AMHP/DoLS team and safeguarding at board and sub-group levels, as well as a working knowledge and experience of integrated Adult Mental Health and Learning Disability services.
In addition, you will support the Head of Service in a number of key areas including budget and resource planning/management, developing effective governance systems and establishing a cohesive and high functioning service, implementing cultural change and improved systems and processes.
A relevant qualification (ie OT, nurse, social worker qualification) and experience in social care, including managing in health and social care services. You will have a commitment to collaboration and service delivery and a full understanding of the integration of health and social care.Experience of building productive partnerships is essential as well as an understanding of the national agenda influencing local government, the NHS and the wider public, voluntary and private sector. With extensive communication, negotiation and performance management skills you will have the ability to think strategically and convert strategy into action. You will have a working knowledge of key legislation and understanding of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act with the ability to lead an experienced team towards continuous improvement.
